HOW TO CONVERT DVD TO SVCD TUTORIAL NEW
:: DVD TO SVCD- This tutorial will guide you on how to convert DVD to SVCD using DVD2SVCD. Like the rest of our tutorials, we are using a FREE application to convert DVD movie to SVCD movie. However, we will have to buy an encoder for this tutorial. But, if you are just experimenting in converting movies, the free 30 day trial version of the TMPGenc will do the job.

HINT: Make sure you use a high quality CDR Blank disc for this job to achieve a DVD-like video quality. We only know one place to get high quality blank disc. The price is amazingly low, this is the only online store where you can get a BLANK DVD's, CDR's FOR LESS!. Your purchases from this vendor help us with our hosting fees.

THE TUTORIAL: Setting the DVD2SVCD TABS

This is the first section of the DVD to SVCD tutorial. In this section, we will be discussing in details the necessary settings for the DVD2SVCD. As mentioned earlier, we need to download and install these applications: DVD2SVCD, TMPGenc, Nero, Daemon Tools. After installing these applications, run the DVD2SVCD then follow the instruction below.

:: SETTING MISC. TAB
1. The first tab we need to set, is the misc. tab. On the misc. tab, click on the format of the source (e.g. DVD) then to what file do we want it to be converted (e.g. DVD, SVCD, VCD) in our case, we would choose SVCD. CLICK HERE to view how to set up this tab. Make sure the DVD and the SVCD radio button are checked.

:: CD IMAGE FILE

1. The CD image tab. Click on VCDX build button. Make sure that it is pointed at the right directory where the VCDX build is located. Normally it should be under the DVD2SVCD folder. CLICK HERE

2. If you choose not to create image, you will have to use VCD easy to create an image. We will not be covering the topics on VCD easy. So, it is highly recommended that an image must be created in this section. We will be mounting this image file with the daemon tools, then burn it with nero.

3. You can check the change CD picture, and last cd picture buttons just in case that there will be more than one disc needed to copy your movie.

:: SUBTITLE TAB (WARNING: Some DVD players does not support these features)

1. If the subtitle is needed to be rip, we can do so by clicking on the subtitle tab. (Warning: make sure English forced subtitle is checked and nothing else).

2. Select "Rip Subtitles" and the "Permanent Subtitles."

3. On the "Subtitle Lang 1 and 2," make sure that English is selected. Select "Forced" and you are done. ( DO NOT CHANGE ANY VALUES )

4. We can also change the default text color of the subtitle by clicking on the "subtitle pallete." The font type can be change by clicking on the "Ext. subtitle font" dropdown menu. CLICK HERE

:: bbMPEG Tab

1. Folks this tab is very delicate and sensitive. In other words, changing the numerical values other than the instructions given in this section can really screw things up.

2. Normally, by default the bbMPEG executable files is already selected. If not, we need to point it to that directory. It is also under the Program Files\DVD2SVCD\supportprograms\ . The "Save in Folder tab" must be at "Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\."

3. The last part is the "Movie offset seconds," make sure that the value is 5. The "CD Overlap seconds" must be checked and having the value of 2 . That's it don't touch anything else. CLICK HERE

:: RIP Tab

1. Click on the "Activate DVD ripping" to select it. Choose either "vstrip" or "Use Internal routines." Selecting either one can do the job.

2. Click on "Eject DVD when ripped." The rest are set by default. Click on the image to your right to view the settings in detail. CLICK HERE

:: DVD2AVI

 1. On this tab, all we need to do is to click the "ON" under the NTSC Field Operation.

2. For the movies that needs a contrast adjustment, a value of 4, or higher will do the job. For a darker movie, we can adjust the brightness by placing a value of 5, or higher.

3. The rest are given by default. CLICK HERE
